Study Permits

To obtain a study permit in Canada, you must follow these steps:

Choose a school or program: Find a designated learning institution in Canada that you would like to attend and make sure it is on the list of designated learning institutions.

Meet the eligibility criteria: Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria for a study permit, including having enough funds to cover your tuition and living expenses, having a valid passport or travel document, and passing a medical exam if required.

Apply for a study permit: Complete the study permit application form and submit it along with the required documents, such as proof of identity, proof of financial support, and a letter of acceptance from the designated learning institution.

Pay the fee: Pay the processing fee for the study permit.

Wait for processing: The processing time for a study permit application can vary, but it typically takes several weeks to several months. You can check the status of your application online.

Attend a biometrics appointment (if required): If you are required to provide biometrics, you will need to attend a biometrics appointment and provide your fingerprints and photo.

Receive the study permit: If your application is approved, you will receive your study permit either by mail or electronically. You will need to present your study permit when you arrive in Canada.

It is important to carefully review the eligibility criteria and the requirements for a study permit to ensure a smooth and successful application process. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for assistance.
