Family Sponsorships

Family sponsorship is a program in Canada that allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor certain eligible family members to come to Canada as permanent residents. The main types of family sponsorships in Canada are:

Spousal sponsorship: This allows a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to sponsor their spouse or common-law partner for permanent residency in Canada.

Parent and Grandparent sponsorship: This allows a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency in Canada.

Dependent child sponsorship: This allows a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to sponsor their dependent children for permanent residency in Canada.

Other family members sponsorship: This allows a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to sponsor other eligible family members, such as siblings or nephews/nieces, for permanent residency in Canada.

To be eligible for family sponsorship, the sponsor must meet certain eligibility criteria, such as having a stable income, and must be able to provide for the basic needs of their sponsored family members. The sponsored family member must also meet the eligibility requirements set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), including a security and medical check.

Family sponsorship is a way for Canadian citizens and permanent residents to reunite with their loved ones and support their integration into Canadian society. It helps to create strong families and support networks in Canada and contributes to the overall social and economic well-being of the country.
